These substances will increase the levels of stress rather than reducing. Despite alcohol being a depressant when consumed in large quantities, it is not an effective way of managing the stress. Another way of managing stress is getting enough sleep. Lack of sleep has been identified to be a cause of stress. There are certain relaxation techniques that can assist someone to reduce stress. Most of them are tried and tested.

The other way of dealing with stress is through doing exercise. Stress is accompanied by the increase in the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Exercise, therefore, can be used as a surrogate to metabolize excessive stress hormones so that one can reach a more relaxed state. It is not a must for someone to do a vigorous physical exercise to achieve this. Brisk walking in fresh air can be very helpful. Working out on a daily basis is even a much better remedy.

There are certain ways on how exercise help in stress management. One of these mechanisms is through pumping of endorphins into one’s body. These are brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. The irritations of the day can be forgotten following an exercise session. The mood of a person can be improved following an exercise session. Improving the moods of a person is as a result of increased confidence, and lowering symptoms of depression.
